FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Sen. Joe Lieberman on Friday criticized Republicans who accuse Democratic critics of the Iraq war of encouraging terrorists, arguing such talk "demeans the freedom we are all fighting for." This week, House Majority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, said Democrats "are more interested in protecting the terrorists than protecting the American people." Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld has raised the specter of Nazi appeasers in his attacks on war critics, part of the GOP's steady drumbeat of rhetoric contending Democrats are weak on national security.

I think it is obvious to any fair minded person that the current psychology of the Democratic Party is set on undermining the President of the United States and they are underminding the country against a most deadly foe against their better judgement.

Any world leader who would deny us the right to defend our citizens and their security interests is not our nation's friend. I'll stick with Pres. Bush over those who want us to appease our enemies for the sake of short-lived peace.

Besides it doesn't work with bullies.
