The latest episode of fearmongering comes from the religious sector of the South:

During the 2008 presidential campaign, many bishops spoke out on abortion more boldly than four years earlier, telling Catholic politicians and voters that the issue should be the most important consideration in setting policy and deciding which candidate to back. A few church leaders said parishioners risked their immortal soul by voting for candidates who support abortion rights.

It's getting ridiculous. The same priest did not threaten his parishioners with the refusal of communion for the voters of John Kerry in 2004, so why are the supporters of Obama so special? Looks like the Rev. Jay Scott Newman did not get the memo: Hate the sin, love the sinner.
